New York At Night by minniemae New York At Night by minniemae
New York is such a large and beautiful city. It’s a city that should be seen not only from ground level, but from high above as well. And, well…that’s what we did. I’m usually so hesitant about going on ANYTHING that’s more than two stories high…but everyone coaxed me into going onto the top of the Empire State building. They said you couldn’t have the “complete New York experience” without doing it. After an hour and a half of waiting to get on some crowded stuffy elevator with people I didn’t know. And immediately—gravity, or the lack of gravity hit me. I felt like I had been drugged on medications…I did –not- like being that high up off the ground.

But as soon as the cold New York air hit me at 85 stories above the ground, my eyes widened. New York was…so beautiful at night! It was almost as beautiful as that painting “The Starry Night”…even though there were no stars visible—the lights of the city and the skyscrapers and advertisements from the city below were the stars. It was…breathtaking.

Yeah, you can't have the complete New York experience without doing it!! Amazing! Elevator and queue are awful, but it's worth it, isn't it? :) When I was there I took pictire from Empire at day and from Rockefeller Center at night. Unforgettable! I'm in love with this city and I wish I could come back there one day :) Breathtaking indeed :)

Every time I see photos from the top of the Empire State Building I just want to go back...
Was it cold up there when you took it?

Actually, I'm deathly afraid of heights, so I was more afraid of falling off the edge and/or passing out, so I didn't notice if it was cold or not. I was taking pictures to calm my nerves. LOL.

Pictures like that make the city so pretty. I live on Long Island, so I've been there more times than I can count. I wish I lived further away from it so the city would seem more pretty to me. ^^

this is a nice capture... I've been wanted to see New York (don't get me wrong... I could never live there! I couldn't stand living in the city) because the idea of such a giant city simply puzzles me. ^^;
The most I've seen is Dallas and Houston. They don't compare much to what this looks like!

You're definitely right--it IS breathtaking! This photo makes me want to go there right now...in fact, if I hopped on the train, I could be there in a couple of hours..except I'm broke. :XD: Well anyways this is a gorgeous shot. New York is definitely a city that should be appreciated from all angles. :3

That's a wicked coo pic. Takasaki was really pretty like that at night too. It was like a dream land, all glittery and alive. I'd like to live in a big city someday...

Great Pic!!!

I loved New york when I went there last year. I went to the top and it was all foggy! I couldn't see anything. You were lucky that it was clear.

Wow, thats mindblowing, I gotta see something like that in person someday. An hour and a half is a hell of a long time to wait for an elevator though, you could have probably taken the stairs faster :D Not that anyone would be in any condition to do anything after that. Must be cause its such a big tourist attraction.
